Russian Premier League
The Russian Premier League (RPL; , ''Rossiyskaya premyer-liga''; РПЛ), also written as Russian Premier Liga, is a professional association football league in Russia and the highest level of the Russian football league system. It was established at the end of 2001 as the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL; ; РФПЛ) and was rebranded with its current name in 2018. From 1992 through 2001, the top level of the Russian league system was the Russian Football Championship (, ''Chempionat Rossii po Futbolu''). There are 16 teams in the competition. As of the 2021/22 season, the league had two Champions League qualifying spots for the league winners and league runners-up, and two spots in the UEFA Conference League were allocated to the third- and fourth-placed teams. FC Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod was a Russian football club based in Nizhny Novgorod. They spent eight seasons in the Russian Premier League. History Early years The team of the railway workers was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 1916. Later it was known as ''Chervonka'' (1918–1922), ''Spartak'' (1923–1930), ''Tyaga'' (1931), ''Zheleznodorozhniki'' (1932–1935). FC Saturn Ramenskoye () is a Russian professional football club, based in the town of Ramenskoye in Moscow Oblast. It is also sometimes referred to as FC Saturn Moscow Region (). History The club was founded in 1946. Although the club is based in Ramenskoye, it represents all of the Moscow Oblast. Yevhen Kucherevskyi
Yevhen Mefodiyovych Kucherevskyi (, ; 6 August 1941 – 26 August 2006) was a Ukrainian football coach. He is most famous for his spells managing Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, which, under his helm, won the Soviet Championship in 1988, took 2nd place twice in 1987 and 1989, as well as the USSR Cup in 1989. Dnipro's recent success in the first half of the 2000s is mostly attributed to his coaching as well. On 26 August 2006, Kucherevskyi's Mercedes-Benz suffered a head-on collision with a KAMAZ truck. He died an hour and half later in a hospital, without regaining consciousness. Upon Kucherevskyi's funeral, Dnipropetrovsk mayor Ivan Kulichenko, announced a plan to name one of the city streets in his honor. Pavlo Oleksandrovych Yakovenko () – or Pavel Aleksandrovich Yakovenko (; born 19 December 1964), is a Ukrainian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He represented the USSR national team at international level. Playing career Yakovenko was born in Nikopol, Ukrainian SSR. His superb build-up play during the mid-1980s made him the starting player for both Dynamo Kyiv and the USSR national team during their respective successful campaigns of winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and advancing to the top 16 in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
