Anatoly Parfyonov
Anatoly Ivanovich Parfyonov (, 17 November 1925 – 28 January 1993) was a Soviet heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler who won a gold medal at the 1956 Olympics. Biography In his youth Parfyonov worked as a mechanic at a spinning and weaving factory. In 1942, during World War II, he enlisted to the Soviet Army, and fought as a machine gunner and later as a T-34 tank driver. In October 1943 he was wounded in the elbow and arm during the battle of the Dnieper, and after that could not fully bend the arm for the rest of his life. For his wartime service he was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Patriotic War. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to his spinning factory. Parfyonov took up wrestling in 1951, aged 26, and won the Soviet heavyweight title in 1954 and 1957, placing third in 1956 and 1959. Vladimir Suteev
Vladimir Grigorevich Suteev () (5 July 1903 – 10 March 1993) was a Russian author, artist and animator who primarily wrote stories for children. He was among the founders of the Soviet animation industry. Suteev's books have been translated into 36 languages and published in countries such as Norway, France, Mexico, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, India and Japan. Pavel Pavlenko
Pavel Pavlovich Pavlenko () (20 September 1902 – 9 March 1993) was a Soviet stage and film actor. Life Born in Kiev, he later moved to Moscow and graduated in 1919 from the Moscow City Theatrical School named for Anatoly Lunacharsky. He tried to join the Moscow Operetta, but was rejected by Grigory Yaron, who said, "We do not need a second Yaron!" He debuted on the stage in 1920. He worked in the Moscow Ukrainian Theater, in the Children's Theater, and elsewhere. During the Great Patriotic War, he played in the Mossovet Theatre. After the war, he appeared more frequently in films, and was a favorite of Aleksandr Rou. His film career came to an end in the late seventies. He died in obscurity in Moscow in 1993. Valentina Borisenko
Valentina Mikhaylovna Borisenko (née Belova; ; Cherepovets, 28 January 1920 – Saint Petersburg, 6 March 1993) was a Soviet chess player. She was a five-time winner of the Women's Soviet Championship: 1945, 1955, 1957, 1960, and 1961 (a record shared with Nona Gaprindashvili). She won the Leningrad women's chess championship seven times (1940, 1945, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1955, and 1956), and four times the RSFSR women's championship. In the Women's World Chess Championship 1949–50 she tied for 3rd–4th with Elisaveta Bykova. In 1970 she was equal first with Waltraud Nowarra in the international tournament at Halle.
