1993 Dutch TT
The 1993 Dutch TT was the seventh round of the 1993 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on 26 June 1993 at the TT Circuit Assen located in Assen, Netherlands. 500 cc race report Honda announces that Shinichi Itoh’s bike is fuel-injected not carburated, and that this is the first time it is being used. Wayne Rainey wants to use a ROC chassis instead of the factory one which was overstiff, but wasn’t allowed to. Mick Doohan on pole where he had his accident the previous year. Kevin Schwantz gets the start from Daryl Beattie and Doohan. Beattie crashes out of third and Mat Mladin’s crashing bike in the same turn sends the marshalls running. Beattie walks away from it. There’s a 3-way fight for 1st between Schwantz, Alex Barros and Doohan. Barros crashes out of the lead, tumbling hard through the furrowed gravel, but is able to walk to the barriers. Wayne Wesley Rainey (born October 23, 1960) is an American former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He competed in the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championships in 1984 and from 1988 to 1993. He won the 500cc World Championship three times and the Daytona 200 once. John Stephen Reynolds (born 27 June 1963) is a British former professional motorcycle racer from Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, England. He won the British Superbike Championship in 1992, 2001 and 2004. Reynolds is an all-time great of BSB with his 37 career wins bettered only by Shane Byrne and Ryuichi Kiyonari. His 117 podiums is 2nd all time behind Byrne, what makes this mark impressive is Reynolds scored this in 202 starts. Simon Crafar (born 15 January 1969 in Waiouru) is a former road racer of solo motorcycles from New Zealand, having competed at Grand Prix and World Superbike level. After riding, he worked as a television commentator and analyst and participated in rider safety. From the 2025 season, he will join the world championship race organisers as Chairman of the FIM MotoGP Stewards' Panel, overseeing two other Stewards and replacing outgoing Freddie Spencer. John Douglas Chandler (born September 27, 1965) is an American former professional motorcycle racer. He earned a reputation as one of the most versatile racers of the 1980s and 1990s.
