Elections to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly were held in May 1980, to elect members of the 200 constituencies in Rajasthan, India. The Indian National Congress (I) won a majority of seats as well as the popular vote, and its leader, Jagannath Pahadia was appointed as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. After the passing of ''The Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1976'', Rajasthan's Legslative Assembly was assigned 200 constituencies. Akhil Bharatiya Ram Rajya Parishad (RRP, "All India Council of Ram's Kingdom") was an Indian Hindu nationalist political party founded by Swami Karpatri in 1948. The RRP won three Lok Sabha seats in the 1952 elections to the national Parliament and two in 1962. Scheduled Tribes
The Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) are officially designated groups of people and among the most disadvantaged socio-economic groups in India. The terms are recognized in the Constitution of India and the groups are designated in one or other of the categories. For much of the period of British rule in the Indian subcontinent, they were known as the Depressed Classes. In modern literature, the ''Scheduled Castes'' are sometimes referred to as Dalit, meaning "broken" or "dispersed", having been popularised by B. R. Ambedkar (1891–1956), a Dalit himself, an economist, reformer, chairman of the Constituent Assembly of India, and Dalit leader during the independence struggle.
