1972 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly were held in March 1972, to elect members of the 184 constituencies in Rajasthan, India. The Indian National Congress won a majority of seats as well as the popular vote, and its leader, Barkatullah Khan was reappointed as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. After the passing of ''The Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1961'', Rajasthan's Legislative Assembly was assigned 176 constituencies. This was increased to 184 constituencies by 1967. The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly or the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Scheduled Tribes
The Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) are officially designated groups of people and among the most disadvantaged socio-economic groups in India. The terms are recognized in the Constitution of India and the groups are designated in one or other of the categories. For much of the period of British rule in the Indian subcontinent, they were known as the Depressed Classes. In modern literature, the ''Scheduled Castes'' are sometimes referred to as Dalit, meaning "broken" or "dispersed", having been popularised by B. R.
