Périgueux (, French:; Occitan: Peireguers or Periguers) is a commune in the Dordognedepartment, in the administrative region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, southwestern France.
Périgueux is the prefecture of Dordogne, and was the capital city of the historic region of Périgord. It is also the seat of a Roman Catholic diocese.
