Chinese influence on Japanese culture

Chinese influence on Japanese culture refers to the historical impact of Chinese culture on Japaneseinstitutions, society, language, political ideologies and rituals as well as other aspects of traditional Japanese culture such as Buddhism and neo-Confucianism, astrology, architecture, literature, art and music, attire and cuisine. Such influences are because as an important part of the Sinosphere, Japan had been profoundly influenced by cultural exchanges with the Chinese Empire, who was the long-running regional hegemon of East Asia, over the course of many centuries until the westernization of Japan since the Meiji Restoration.
