From 8 to 10 November 2017, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, made a state visit to China with his wife, the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump. This visit was Trump's first state visit to China, and the only to occur during his first presidency. Trump's second state visit to China occurred in May 2026 when he was received by Chinese leaderXi Jinping during his second presidency. This was also the last time a U.S. president had visited China until almost nine years, in 2026.
