Barrau signed for Hamilton Academcial (another club in Scotland) on 1 January 2008 on a six-month contract. However, he was released in April 2008 to return to France. He left Hamilton after his then-wife complained of feeling homesick. At the beginning of the 2008–09 season, Barrau signed for French club ES Fréjus who play in CFA Group B. As of January 2015, Barrau was running a chauffeuring business in the south of France.
