The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.80. The median age was 44.9 years. 21.6% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23% were from 25 to 44; 29.5% were from 45 to 64; and 20.4% were 65 or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.5% male and 49.5% female.

Of the 277 households 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.5% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% were non-families. 35.4% of households were one person and 21.7% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.91. The age distribution was 26.4% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 21.4% 65 or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 86.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.9 males. The median household income was $31,979 and the median family income was $41,538.
