As a member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Blanding spent time at the orchestra's Shanghai branch, Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai. During his time in Shanghai, Blanding also worked with the student jazz band at Shanghai Community International School Pudong.
