The station came on the air on November 24, 2000, as WRJM-TV, an affiliate of the United Paramount Network (

On December 15, 2021, it was announced that Allen Media Group, a subsidiary of

On June 1, 2025, amid financial woes and rising debt, Allen Media Group announced that it would explore "strategic options" for the company, such as a sale of its television stations (including WIYE, WCOV and WALE-LD).
