2022 invasion of Ukraine

At the beginning of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Solodchuk's command led the unsuccessful Battle of Kyiv. Invading from Belarus, a substantial portion of the 36th Army were stopped, then repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces west of Kyiv in March 2022. According to a call intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence, Solodchuk was almost shot in the same year while confronting rioting troops.
