History
The station opened on 29 December 1931.
At the time of its opening, the station was located in the Tokumaru neighbourhood of the village of Akatsuka, however the station took its name from the town of Nerima immediately to the north of the station, as that was deemed to be better known. The station name was prefixed with the company name "Tobu" to differentiate it from the existing

).
The area around the station was absorbed into the City of Tokyo in 1932, all becoming part of
Itabashi Ward, and it was not until 1947 that the former town of Nerima was split off from Itabashi Ward to become
Nerima Ward.
From 17 March 2012, station numbering was introduced on the Tobu Tojo Line, with Tōbu-Nerima Station becoming "TJ-08".
