on February 6, 1743. He graduated from
Princeton College in 1764 where he studied law. He was admitted to the bar and began practice in
Plattsburgh. He owned slaves.
He was a delegate to the
Provincial Congress of New York in 1774 and 1775 and a delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1776 and 1777. He was a member of the
