Following the premise of the previous versions of De Verraders, the show features a group of contestants participating in a game similar to the party game Mafia - in which a small group of contestants become the titular "Traitors" and must work together to eliminate the other contestants in order to win the grand prize, while the remaining contestants become "Faithfuls" and are tasked with discovering and banishing the Traitors by voting them out in order to win the grand prize. In August 2024, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on September 23, 2024. In March 2025 the series was renewed for a third season.

région, with hopes of winning a share of the $100,000 prize. In season one there were 20 and in season two there were 22. The players are referred to as the "Faithful" but among them are the "Traitors" – a group of contestants selected by host Karine Vanasse, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithfuls and claim the prize for themselves. Should the Faithful contestants eliminate all the Traitors, they will share the prize fund, but if any Traitors make it to the end, they steal the money. In a season one twist, host Karine Vanasse told the last player banished before the end game, not to reveal if they were a Faithful or Traitor. In a season two twist, from the final six onwards the banished players didn't reveal whether they were a Faithful or Traitor.

Similar to the first season, the cast consists of half reality TV stars and notable personalities and half civilian contestants. Additionally, a pre-existing relationship was included in the cast, with YouTuber siblings Kyra and Nick Provost competing against each other.
