Legal issues
On December 27, 2023, Shannon was arrested on a warrant issued by the Douglas County (Kansas) District Attorney for the charge of rape; sexual intercourse without consent and use of force. The warrant was filed 22 days before his arrest on December 5. It was reported that the alleged incident occurred "on or about" September 9, 2023 while Shannon was in
Lawrence after attending the Illinois at Kansas football game. Shannon posted bail the following day and was suspended by the team.
