Early life

Curtin was born in Cremorne, Sydney on 20 July 1945. His family moved to Melbourne and he was educated at St Kevin's College, Toorak. He entered seminary at

Priesthood

In 1971, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Melbourne at St Patrick's Cathedral, Melbourne. He served as assistant priest at Noble Park until 1974, when he became assistant priest of
