He was born to Gurusamipalayam weaver Marimuthu Mudaliar in Rasipuram Taluka of old Salem district. He completed his primary education at Gurusamipalayam Sengunthar Mahajana School and later obtained his Master's degree in Economics from Presidency College, Madras University. He passed the
