Colliander served as commanding officer of the Swedish Army Riding School from 1934 to 1940 and he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1937. He was then promoted to Colonel and appointed commanding officer of the

Three years later Colliander was appointed acting military commander of the I Military District and in 1946 he was promoted to major general and appointed military commander of the VI Military District. Colliander served in this position for five years and in 1951 he was appointed military commander of the III Military District. In 1955 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and retired from active service.
