. It is an industrial site that grew up during the 20th century and it does not have any church history. The first church built in Svelgen was in 1960. Before this time, residents were part of the Midtgulen Church parish. The new chapel was designed by Johan Lindstrøm and his son Claus, who presumably completed the job after his father's death. The main contractor for the construction was G. and F. Hjelmeland. The chapel was consecrated on 9 October 1960 by Bishop
