The development of Somerset began in the early 1960s, encompassing 22 divisions with over 1,200 homes. The final division was completed in the late 1970s. Notably, Somerset is characterized by nationally recognized schools and the Somerset Recreation Club, which offers both recreational and competitive swim and tennis programs. The Somerset Community Association plays a pivotal role in representing the interests of the neighborhood. It facilitates various interest groups, such as a singles group for individuals aged 50 and above, a "Sunshine Committee" providing support to ailing residents, and a covenant review committee.
