History

The company was established in December 1997 and began operating in March 1999 as the first Slovenian private mobile operator. In 2000, the company was the second to market WAP, preceded by Mobitel. After initial losses, the company's shares were in February 2001 purchased by

That is why Si.mobil has been a 100 percent subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group since 2010. In 2017 the subsidiary was rebranded into A1 Slovenija. At the time of the takeover, it said it had over 700,000 customers. In June 2023, the company stopped using 3G network.
