Archaeology

The historical site is the most important archaeological site in the state of Zaghouan. It has a relatively large area, estimated at thirty (30) hectares. Historical and archeological data confirm the richness of this area with the archaeological stock left by successive civilizations from the Carthaginians and Romans to the Byzantines. The city has an important and unique architectural center, of which we can distinguish a capital built in the heart of the city around a spacious courtyard around the "Forum" in the center of public life. And a large public square opened by the majority of religious and public services and two bathrooms (winter bath and summer) and two churches and two old tombs and also site several large water reservoirs and water channels The origins of the town are said in legend to be based on the location of a mythical falcon.
