It is a 'bumper' edition (136 pages), as news for seven days that was spread over six days (including the former Saturday ''Mercury'' edition) now has to be condensed into a weekly issue. The ''Scarborough Evening News'' was first published in 1882. At that time, the paper had a major rival in the ''Scarborough Daily Post'', which had appeared six years earlier in 1876. The rivalry between the two
