He was placed on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation on July 12, 2024, and was transferred to the 60–day injured list on August 19. On September 10, it was announced that Hentges would require surgery to repair the labrum and capsule in his left shoulder, necessitating a recovery timetable of 12–14 months.
