. It may also be known as the ''Salt Lake Herald'' or '' Salt Lake City Herald''. It was founded in 1870 by publishers William C. Dunbar and Edward L. Sloan. It was at one time housed in the Herald Building, when the newspaper was owned by William A. Clark, a wealthy entrepreneur and politician from Montana. The ''Salt Lake Herald'' merged with the ''Inter-mountain Republican'' in 1909 to form the ''Salt Lake Herald Republican''. The ''Inter-mountain Republican'' had been published from 1906-1909. The ''Salt Lake Herald Republican'' was published until 1918.
