Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, Sahand's population was 13,610 in 3,922 households, when it was a village in Sahand Rural District. The following census in 2011 counted 24,704 people in 7,342 households, by which time the village had been elevated to the status of a city. The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 82,494 people in 25,802 households.
