Ryen is a station on the Lambertseter Line of the Oslo Metro, situated between Manglerud and Brattlikollen in the Nordstrand borough. The station is strategically located where the Lambertseter Line intersects the E6 highway, facilitating efficient transit connections. Ryen Depot, known as Ryen vognhall in Norwegian, serves as the primary maintenance and storage facility for the Oslo Metro. Opened in 1966, the depot encompasses 19,000 square meters of buildings and accommodates up to 120 trains. It includes a workshop, inspection hall, and storage hall, playing a crucial role in the daily operations of the metro system. Due to its operational significance, Ryen station is a key point for early morning and late evening metro services. On weekdays, between 4:30 and 5:30, all metro lines serve Ryen, facilitating the commencement of services for the day. Additionally, during the night, empty 12-wagon trains, often consisting of four units, are dispatched from Ryen Depot to Stortinget metro station. These trains are then decoupled into shorter units, ready for operation the following day. This practice underscores Ryen's role in ensuring the readiness of metro services.
