Rocourt () is a former municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Porrentruy (district), Porrentruy in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Canton of Jura, Jura in Switzerland. On 1 January 2018 the former municipality of Rocourt merged into the municipality of Haute-Ajoie.


History

Rocourt is first mentioned in 1148 as ''Rocort''.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.6%. Out of the forested land, 31% of the total land area is heavily forested and 5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 21% is used for growing crops and 35% is pastures and 3% is used for alpine pastures. The municipality is located in the Porrentruy district. The village of Rocourt consists of two sections which are divided by the Porrentruy-Besançon road.

In the 2007 Swiss federal election, 2007 federal election the most popular party was the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland, CVP which received 43% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland, SPS (29%), the FDP.The Liberals, FDP (17%) and the Swiss People's Party, SVP (8%). In the federal election, a total of 78 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 62%.


Economy

Education

In Rocourt about 37 (≈ 26%) of the population have completed non-mandatory Education in Switzerland#Secondary, upper secondary education, and 14 (≈ 10%) have completed additional higher education (either List of universities in Switzerland, university or a ''Fachhochschule''). Of the 14 who completed tertiary schooling, 64% were Swiss men, 36% were Swiss women. The Canton of Jura school system provides two year of non-obligatory Kindergarten, followed by six years of Primary school. This is followed by three years of obligatory lower Secondary school where the students are separated according to ability and aptitude. Following the lower Secondary students may attend a three or four year optional upper Secondary school followed by some form of Tertiary school or they may enter an apprenticeship. During the 2009-10 school year, there were no students attending school in Rocourt. , there were 22 students in Rocourt who came from another municipality, while 12 residents attended schools outside the municipality.
