Early life and college

Mathews graduated from Jacksonville, Florida's Terry Parker High School and was a three time First-Team All Conference Selection for Terry Parker's football team. Ricardo was also a conference champion wrestler and made it to the Florida state championships in track. Mathews played college football for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
