Training Centres

Emergency Services Academy (Lahore)

The Emergency Services Academy, the first training institute of its kind in Pakistan, was established as a center for imparting emergency medical training, fire fighting, structural collapse search and rescue, high-angle and confined space rescue, water rescue, and other emergency management skills. Initially set up in vacant government premises, the Academy is currently constructing a purpose-built campus. It includes a Training Manikins Lab, Rescue Simulation Building, Hazmat Incident Training, and an Urban Search and Rescue Simulator. Dr. Farhan Khalid played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Academy. As the Registrar, he was instrumental in developing modern training programs and establishing the framework for the Academy. Under his supervision, the Academy has grown to provide comprehensive training for cadets from across Pakistan. His efforts have also included coordinating with international partners and overseeing the integration of advanced training techniques and facilities. Emergency management training at the Academy involves a variety of simulated incident scenarios to provide hands-on experience for personnel. Scenarios include fires, building collapses, hazardous material incidents, and emergencies involving mass casualties, all while maintaining high safety standards. Training materials developed by the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) support this practical training. The Academy is in the process of obtaining international accreditation. Bilateral collaborations between the Punjab Emergency Service and emergency services in the United Kingdom have facilitated training for emergency officers in the UK. Additionally, Rescue 1122 now also trains the Pakistan Army's Medical Corps.
