Early life and career

Montoya was born on March 9, 1979 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From a Puerto Rican family, Montoya lived in her young adult years on the island, dividing her time between her role as an account executive for a company and her rock band Utopia, which she herself led and produced. In 2002 she was chosen to be part of the cast of the singing competition show
