Personal life

Yarros began writing while her husband was deployed in Afghanistan. As of October 2023, she and her husband have six children. Yarros has

, as do her sons. Yarros and her husband initially fostered a daughter, eventually adopting her; their daughter is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. Through the nonprofit OneOctober, which she co-founded with her husband in 2019, Yarros is passionate about improving the lives of children in the foster system.
