The Ram 1500 REV (Revolution Electric Vehicle) is a battery electric full-size light-duty truck based on the fifth generation Ram, announced in July 2021 and first revealed to the public as a concept vehicle in January 2023.

History

In July 2021, Stellantis announced the ongoing development of an electrified Ram pickup as part of Stellantis EV DAY 2021, including early concept drawings of the vehicle, and stating that a full size battery electric Ram would arrive by 2024. There is also reference to a future range-extender

The commercial reveals for the first time a pre-production model that shares much of its exterior and interior with the current fifth generation Ram pickup, with appearance changes to most notably the front fascia. The ad also confirms the shortened name of Ram REV (said as "rev"), availability in the US expected in late 2024, and "Range-lengthening technology to come later". Following the Super Bowl advertisement, reservations were opened on the Ram REV webpage, allowing users to pay a refundable fee to become a Ram REV Insider+ member, with the promise of exclusive privileges such as early access to pre-orders and invitations to events such as first looks and test drives as they become available.

Description

As of February 2023, what has been revealed of the REV shows the truck being based on the fifth-generation Ram, sharing much of its exterior and interior styling with the standard internal combustion model. Most notably altered is the front fascia of the vehicle, to improve aerodynamics as there is no need for a large grille opening. The REV features unique headlights, front bumper, and hood to accommodate the front trunk ("frunk"). The rear of the truck also has unique differences such as taillights that extend onto the tailgate. A single charge port is located on the front left fender of the vehicle, containing a CCS Combo connector and charging status indicator LEDs. The Ram 1500 REV is built on Stellantis' new STLA Frame platform, which is designed specifically for large EVs with body-on-frame construction. The truck will include all-wheel drive as standard and offer two battery sizes at launch. The standard 168-kWh battery pack has an estimated range of 350 miles. Based on the details revealed for the 168-kWh battery, it comes with an electric motor setup producing 654 horsepower and 620 pound-feet (839 N⋅m) of torque. With this configuration, the Ram 1500 REV is rated to tow up to 14,000 pounds and carry a payload of 2,700 pounds.

Charging Infrastructure

The Ram 1500 REV supports 800-volt architecture and fast charging up to 350 kW, enabling users to gain 100 miles of range in about 10 minutes. Stellantis is working to expand charging networks to support these capabilities.

Production

Although the premiere of the Ram 1500 REV took place in the first quarter of 2023, and orders for the electric pickup began to be collected right after its debut, the start of production was originally scheduled for the end of 2024. Deliveries of the first finished units to buyers in North America were planned for early 2025, less than 2 years after the presentation. In December 2024, following changes in the Stellantis management board in response to market conditions, the production start date was again delayed, this time to 2026. In January 2025, it was reported that the long range version of the truck was cancelled in order to redirect attention toward the hybrid variant of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger. However, in May 2025, Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis announced that production of the REV would again be pushed back to Mid to Late 2027 for the 2028MY.

Ramcharger
