History

Burundi National Radio and Television began its activity in Burundi in 1961 with Radio Burundi, when the country was still a Belgian colony. Television made its debut, however, in 1984, long after its independence. The television station broadcast using a 0.5 kW transmitter in

RTNB operates two radio stations and a television channel, which offer educational and information programs, as well as TV series, talk shows, cartoons and other entertainment programs. In June 2013, Burundi began operations for the migration of television from analogue to digital technology, which was completed by the end of 2014.
