Taluk headquarters, Kadayanallur, is 16 km south from Puliyangudi, and the district headquarters, Tenkasi lies 31 km south. Geography

Puliyangudi is located at . It is mainly an agricultural based town and is famous for its Lemon market; Puliyangudi is also called as ‘Lemon City’. During the past years the economic driver of the town was agriculture & allied activities. Puliyangudi town is spread across an area of 55.16 sq.km and it is divided into 33 wards. The town is located at the junction of roads from Madurai, Rajapalayam, Sankarankovil Kovilpatti, Surandai, Kadayanallur, Tenkasi, Sengottai and Kollam. The town is surrounded in the north by Vasudevanallur Town Panchayat and in the south by Punnaiyapuram Village Panchayat. Mullikulam Village Panchayat forms the physical boundary of Puliyangudi in eastern directions. Reserve forest area forms a boundary along western side.
