It is disjunctly distributed in Africa; Senegal, Chad, and Tanzania, and Asia; Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the western Himalayas, and India.
A perennial herb, it is considered a noxious weed by agriculturalists, and is used in Ayurveda and Tibetan traditional medicines.
