Uses

Piceol is used in the synthesis of several pharmaceutical drugs including octopamine, sotalol, bamethan, and dyclonine. Piceol can be used to make acetaminophen by condensation with hydroxylamine and subsequent Beckmann rearrangement in acid. Anticonvulsants are also possible by Mannich reaction:
