History

Pekanbaru Football Club was founded in August 2024 with the nickname ''Cempaka Kuning'' (The Yellow Champaca) and homebase in Garuda Sakti Field. Pekanbaru FC will start competing inaugural season in Liga 4 starting from 2024–25. Despite finishing in third place, Pekanbaru advanced to the national phase with Wahana, who were the champions of the Liga 4 Riau after Persemai withdrew for financial reasons.
