Pamela J. Reed (born February 27, 1961, Palmer, Michigan, United States) is an American ultrarunner who resides in Tucson, Arizona and Jackson, Wyoming.

Running career

In 2002, Reed was the first woman to become the overall winner of the

Badwater Ultramarathon The Badwater Ultramarathon describes itself as "the world's toughest foot race". It is a course starting at below sea level in the Badwater Basin, in California's Death Valley, and ending at an elevation of 8360 feet (2548 m) at Whitney Portal ...

. Her win also set the women’s course record. She subsequently repeated as overall winner of the race in 2003. In 2003, she set a new 24-hour running record for American women by running 138.96 miles in San Diego, California; this record stood for 15 years. Reed is the current female American record holder in six-day marathons after completing 490 miles in the Twelfth-Annual Self-Transcendence 6- & 10-day Race in New York City. She completed the multiday race on Saturday, May 2, 2009.

Honors

In 2017, Reed was inducted into the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2019, she was inducted into the Arizona Runner’s Hall of Fame.
