''Nu Yorica!'' was released in February 1996 by

. Peter Reilly spoke on the labels behalf that ''Nu Yorica'' was their first "really successful record" from Soul Jazz noting that "it was more of a kind of cult thing up until then. It opened it up to a lot of people." and that the album sold specifically well in New York. A follow-up album, ''Nu Yorica 2!'' was later released by Soul Jazz. The album was re-issued in 2015. The reissue had its tracks remastered and re-arranged some tracks omitted some tracks and added five bonus tracks such as Ricardo Morera's "My Friend".
