(GRSE) secured the lowest bidder (L1) position for constructing five Next Generation Corvettes (NGC) for the Indian Navy, under a program approved by the Defence Acquisition Council on 6 June 2022. The contract for GRSE, valued at over , covers five of the eight NGCs, with the remaining three to be built by the second-lowest bidder (L2) at the same unit cost. The shipyard participated in the Contract Negotiation Committee (CNC) meeting convened by the Defence Ministry on 21 May. As per reports, contract is expected to be signed within six months after negotiations.
