Reception

''Nattukku Oru Nallavan'' was one of the most heavily publicised films of Rajinikanth's career. Despite the extensive promotional efforts, the film failed to connect with audiences. Critics noted that the storyline lacked emotional depth and failed to engage viewers, which contributed to its poor reception. This disconnect was seen as a significant factor in its underperformance across all the languages in which it was released. Although the film featured high-octane action sequences and melodious songs composed by Hamsalekha, critics believed that these elements could not compensate for its weak screenplay, which was attributed to director Ravichandran. Though it ran houseful shows in some parts of Tamil Nadu, trade analysts reported that the earnings were not enough to recover the film’s enormous costs, rendering it a box office failure. The Hindi version was also a box office failure.
