named A.E. Doran, who reversed his name. It is thought that when the
Southern Pacific Transportation Company

extended its tracks through the area, A.E. Doran had the task of naming the various sidings and stations along the route.
Because Doran already named another siding for himself, he reversed his name. And the name stuck.
Once a recognized community in its own right, most of the historical Narod area has been incorporated into the neighboring city of
Montclair.
The remainder remains unincorporated, and addresses in the area show "Ontario" as the place name, due to it bordering the city of
Ontario
