Etymology

The name "Monteviot" is derived from a French word meaning 'rock'.

History

Monteviot Tea Garden was established in 1856. The ailing tea garden was taken over by the Ambootia group and brought back to life.

According to the 2011 Census of India, Montiviot Tea Garden had a total population of 743 of which 357 (48%) were males and 386 (52%) were females.
