In 2013, Modern Water contracted to build desalination projects in China, which require more water in some areas for drinking and for irrigation. One of the company's main competitors in Asia is Consolidated Water. Following the success of its Gibraltar forward osmosis pilot plant, In 2014, Modern Water and Northumberland Services signed a 22 million pound, 20-year contract to build and operate a wastewater plant on the rock of Gibraltar.


Monitoring Division

The Monitoring division develops systems for monitoring and improving water quality. It provides acute toxicity monitoring systems for online, portable and lab use, together with on-line and portable trace metal measurement technology.
