is the government ministry responsible for the national policy regarding environmental matters. It was created on May 13, 2008. Its function is to oversee the environmental sector of Peru, with the authority to design, establish, and execute government policies concerning the environment. , the minister is Albina Ruiz.


History

It was created on May 13, 2008, months after its creation was proposed, by Legislative Decree No. 1013, and its inaugural holder was Antonio Brack Egg. Its stated mission is to ensure the sustainable use and conservation of natural resources, as well as the preservation of environmental quality for the benefit of people and the environment, in a normative, effective, decentralized manner, coordinated with public and private organizations and civil society, within the framework of green growth and environmental governance.

It has two subdivisions: the Strategic Development of Natural Resources and Environmental Management.
