She has published over 150 research papers in international journals and conferences, supervised 17 PhDs, completed numerous research projects, and coordinated the Special Assistance Program (SAP) on Power System Automation from UGC, Government of India. She is also a reviewer for journals in her field. Thomas established a SCADA laboratory and Substation Automation (SA) Laboratory at JMI, with industry involvement. She also drafted the curriculum and started a full-time MTech program in Electrical Power System Management in the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI, in 2003, with industry participation, featuring courses on power automation and hands-on training.
