The village of
Middlefield is located in western Middlefield Township.
Name and history
Middlefield Township was so named for its location roughly halfway between
Warren and
Painesville. It is the only Middlefield Township statewide.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
